How Do You Calculate Prorated Rent?

To calculate prorated rent either scroll down to my super easy calculator or follow this steps.

  1. Figure out the daily rent: Calculate the daily rent by dividing the total monthly rent by the number of days in the month. For example, if the monthly rent is $900 and it's a 30-day month, the daily rent would be $30.
  2. Determine the number of days: Next, count the number of days the tenant will be occupying the property for that particular month. For example, if a tenant is moving in on the 20th, then they would be living there for 11 days in a 30-day month (including the 20th).
  3. Do the Math!: Multiply the daily rent by the number of days the tenant will be living in the property for that month. Using our example, that would be $30 (daily rent) times 11 days, giving us a prorated rent of $330 for that month.

Remember, different months have different lengths, so the daily rental cost could vary if the month has 28, 30, or 31 days. And also, in leap years February has 29 days.
